Fed: Lees says Democrats leadership challenge about identity

CANBERRA, Feb 28 AAP - Australian Democrats leader Meg Lees said today the challenge
to her leadership was about whether or not the party should work with the coalition government.

The Democrats were thrown into turmoil yesterday when Natasha Stott Despoja openly
challenged Senator Lees for the party leadership.

Senator Stott Despoja's move guaranteed a leadership spill and will now force a postal
ballot of all party members, which could take up to three months to settle.
